Hello everyone. As I announced, uh, about three days ago, progress has hit 100% both with translation and editing. So, now that that’s done I’ll give a quick rundown of what still needs to be done, when to expect a release, and some other stuff.
First off, a quick list of what’s still left
- I still need to do a second editing pass of the entire script. I’d originally anticipated finishing this up by the end of the year, but I’ll have my hands tied with another project for the next 4 or so months, which might push that back a little.
- A translation check will be done on the common route, as well as Ochiba’s. SupremeTentacle will be doing this, and it hopefully won’t take too long.
- QC, obviously. This will wait until a finalized version of the script is done.
- Translation of miscellaneous other things, which includes opening, ending, and insert songs, text on SD images, and translation of other image files that need to be edited.
- Image editing. As of now, this hasn’t started yet.
- Programming stuff, but honestly this shouldn’t take long since everything for IroSeka’s been worked out.
Now, for release info. Naturally, the game won’t be releasing anytime soon, since there’s still much more to do to make the translation the absolute best it can be. I don’t want to be too specific with things, since it’s still too far off, and I would mostly just be throwing darts really (which no doubt would disappoint people when I end up being off by a lot). A release this year isn’t possible, unfortunately, but it should release sometime next year provided nothing unexpected happens from now until then. Sometime late Q1 might be possible, but that would honestly be something that’d only happen if the stars align (aka my wishful thinking). More realistically, it would be much closer to around a year from now, which would be summertime 2017. I know this is a long time from now, but the wait will be worth it, and I promise we won’t just be sitting doing nothing in the meanwhile.
Lastly, I’ll talk about some recent news from the Japanese side of things, since this year is actually pretty big for AstralAir, and I’m a die-hard fan of this game as well as anything Favorite in general. Both the game’s fandisk AstralAir no Shiroki Towa Finale -Shiroki Hoshi no Yume- as well as the Vita version AstralAir no Shiroki Towa -White Eternity- are slated for release at the end of this year.
The vita version will include some new CGs, as well as some new content in general (not much has been said about what kind though, but they have a completely new writer listed on the site who wasn’t there for the main game). Some of the new CGs have been revealed, which you can see in this article here. It’s currently set to release on September 22nd.
The fandisk will have after stories for all 6 of the original heroines as well as a new scenario for a certain character… that well, I won’t spoil you on. You’ll figure out who she is (and come to love her) once you play the game for yourselves. They’ve also announced, or well put into the getchu page for it (which someone with a sharp eye found out)The fandisk is currently set to release on October 28th. Also, since this is as good a time as ever to announce something, I suppose I’ll go ahead and announce that we’ll likely be translating the fandisk too (eventually).
So, basically that’s a rundown of things for now. I probably won’t be updating things anymore since there’s not much numerical-wise to inform you of that will affect the release date, but I’ll give a big update closer to when the game’s ready to go out. Also, as just a final note, I’d like to thank everyone who’s been supportive of this effort over the past year and a half, even just people who’ve simply said they’re excited or looking forward to playing the game. Back when I first got involved with this game in December of 2014, I had no real editing experience, nor did I really anticipate how bad of a shape the existing translation actually was in. In the few months proceeding, I put in a lot of time and effort attempting to better the translation as much as I possibly could, while also struggling to find a reliable translator so that I wouldn’t have to do mental gymnastics on every other line when trying to edit. Sometime around March or April (I don’t remember which), I finally managed to find someone, who I still have here today. So, I’d like to thank SupremeTentacle for working on this for the past year on a very constant basis, without giving up. In that long period, both myself and ST have improved our skills in our respective roles, and I’m finally at a point where I can look back on what we have and feel extremely proud of it. Even though I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I first started off, I can’t say I regret making that decision one bit. This game and it’s characters have really grown on me throughout all the time I’ve spent with it, and I’m extremely excited for the eventual day when I get to share this wonderful game with the rest of you.
